Our Favorite Early Reader Books
One of the many joys of parenting comes when your children first begin to read. What an exciting time in your little one's life! To see the joy in their faces as they realize they're reading words off the page, well, there's not much better than that. Of course, we all know the importance of reading cannot be understated. According to The Young Readers Foundation, reading improves vocabulary, ensures better comprehension, helps the child develop critical thinking skills and improves results at school, among other positive benefits. On that note, we've rounded up some of our favorite early reader book collections for you to dive into with your little readers. We think Dr. Seuss said it best: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
We love the entire Elephant & Piggie series. Mo Willems' beloved series tells sweet little stories of Elephant and Piggie, two best friends who go on lots of adventures together. You'll be cracking up too alongside your child as she reads these books!
Ah! Another classic book, this time from P.D. Eastman. Why does the dog need to go, go, go? He's got a party to get to, of course! My daughters loved reading this book.
The perfect first book for young dinosaur lovers (which is basically all kids). Love the rhyming structure of this book, and of course, that the dinos love to dance!
The recipe for this book is a total hit: what child doesn't like the idea of concocting their own amazing dessert, finding whatever they can in the kitchen to create a yummy surprise? A hilarious book for the young reader who loves dessert.
The 'Bob' books were a staple in our house when I had early readers. Simple sentences make up the stories here, and as a result, your young reader will gain more and more confidence with each word they read.
